academyworldcup2

Date: Saturday May 9th
Location: Lost Creek park

Imperial Soccer Club is organizing a one day small sided tournament of 3v3 or 4v4 among the Academy ages. It will only be our Academy teams and we will group teams together by age and level. It is the first time we attempt an event as such and I would love for you all to participate.

Team selections will be mixed and arranged by coaches of the ages within the brackets in order to prevent making lopsided and dominant teams. For example, we will group all the 2019B teams together to make a bracket of 4 teams consisting of 5-6 players to play 4v4 or 4 teams consisting of 4-5 players to play 3v3. It will all depend on how many players in total commit to playing all games on Saturday.

Below are the brackets and the teams making up those brackets (could change depending on total participants):

Special Rules
Field Sizes and Set Up

Zero Tolerance for Referee insults.

Field managers will be there to help manage parents and tone it down if things get chippy. Refs won’t be given yellow/red cards to use. Any excessive foul or any misconduct will be given either a verbal warning or mandatory substitution by the refs. Multiple warnings or mandatory substitutions can result in banning from game or tournament. Same goes for parents.

Mercy rule – If a team has a lead of 10 goals, the game ends. Ex. If the scores is 10-3, the game keeps going. If the score is 13-3, the game ends.

Tournament Fees and Support from Parents

The fee for participation is $10 per player. All fees collected will be going to pay the referees and for refreshment drinks for the refs and volunteer coaches.

Referee and Coach Volunteers are needed!
In order for this event to remain at a low cost, we need your help. Imperial Academy coaches will be asked to help by being refs for this event if they do not have games scheduled with their other teams. They will not be available to help coach and rotate players for teams.

If you are interested in helping as a ref, please let me know! We aim to pay $15-20 per game from the money collected from the participants.

If you are interested in coaching your kid's team in the tournament, please let me know. ***This coaching volunteer spot is mainly for helping the kids rotate and for positional encouragement. This is not the time for a parent to try and force tactics on a small group. You must encourage the kids to communicate and work together, encourage them to complete and play hard, and help by checking them in their positioning throughout their game. PLEASE DO NOT let your adult competitiveness make this an awful experience for a kid.
The next step is for you to confirm with your coach if you will be participating so we can start gathering availabilities and collecting participations fees for the refs. The due date for confirming is set for April 27th.Once confirmations are complete and teams are made, I will email the participants all the groups and teams for the tournament. We will be assigning country names to all teams. Name changes will be allowed if agreed upon by your new temporary teammates. We will be setting teams as home (red) and away (white) so if your team wishes to wear a different kit to have fun with your country's name, please check with me before making changes to prevent having to make a team wear pinnies.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

I look forward to making this event a fun one for the kids!
